Meet the Synergy Trainers

Simon Whitnall


Simon WhitnallSimon is the founder of both Synergy Personal Training and Synergy Fitness Camps, the leading one-on-one and group training providers in the UK.

Simon's commitment to get his clients to their goals through the principals of human function has led him to invest greatly in his knowledge and skills by studying 1-on-1 with world-renowned Functional Health and Fitness educator Phil Mansfield. Simon is currently extending his training to a Diploma in Sports Therapy.

In the few hours that Simon is not here helping his clients reach their goals, he is usually educating and supporting other health and fitness experts to improve their knowledge and ability to help others. Simon's enthusiasm for performance and movement has spanned over a decade of involvement in competitive sports and the fitness industry.

His wealth of knowledge as a highly skilled and successful trainer comes from his experiences as a Personal Trainer in the UK, Fire fighter in the RNZAF, Senior Fitness Consultant, Fitness Centre Manager and a Semi-professional Rugby Player in the UK, USA and Australia.






Emma Robertson


Emma RrobertsonEmma’s long standing passion for health and wellbeing drove her to become the highly skilled exercise therapist and nutrition and lifestyle coach she it today. Her background in dance and sports led her to study a Bachelor of Physical Education at Otago University in New Zealand.

After five years in the industry working as a senior fitness consultant and Exercise Kinesiologist at Wakefield Physiotherapy and Back Clinic in Wellington, Emma travelled to the UK to study under several of the most renowned professionals in the fitness industry; namely Phil Mansfield, Gary Gray, Charles Poliquin and Paul Chek.

The past four years in the UK have enabled Emma to develop her knowledge in nutrition, lifestyle, fat loss and environmental health issues such as IBS, Adrenal Fatigue, hormonal imbalances, toxicity and stress; all of which hugely impact upon fat loss and the ability to get results from exercise. Emma is driven to get her clients to success and continuously dedicates her time and resources into helping others to help themselves.

Darren Thomas


Darren ThomasDarren is a highly qualified trainer with over 5 years experience within the fitness industry. Due to the time and money he invests in continually educating himself to stay at the forefront of the industry, he has been able to achieve amazing results with all clients in terms of injury rehab, weight loss and sports performance.

As well as holding BSc Honours in Sports Science from Liverpool University, Darren has recently completed his 3D Physical Trainer mentorship under one of the world’s leading educators Phil Mansfield. During this time, Darren excelled in the field of human function and has been able to carry this knowledge over into helping all of his clients successfully achieve their individual goals.

Darren is absolutely driven to ensure all of his clients achieve the results they want. This drive has come from participation in a variety of sports throughout his life including rugby, football, boxing and mixed martial arts. He has also spent time as a football and outdoor activity coach, which has enabled him to become a very strong motivator and someone who will give his all in helping you improve your life, fitness and well-being.






Eileen Brown


Eileen BrownEileen has a Degree in Human Movement and was a Head of PE until her recent retirement. She has loved coaching and training both students and adults in a number of different sports and exercise activities over the years.

As a former International Athlete and Volleyball player she continues to train at a high personal level, still maintaining the discipline and enjoyment for fitness. She has worked with National coaches and Squads of athletes studying the different approaches to training and has enjoyed using this expertise to adjust to working with all standards of fitness and ability.

She has a natural enthusiasm to share all this knowledge with others and she has been particularly successful with clients who are interested in beginning to improve their fitness and health.

Eileen is committed to keeping fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and has successfully mentored clients to realise the importance of exercising regularly.






Rob Ingleby


Rob InglebyRob Ingleby is currently completing an undergraduate degree in sport and exercise science in Liverpool and is a REP's certified instructor. He has a passion for improving fitness goals and has achieved this for the past 3 years around the North-west and Midlands.

With an enthusiastic open approach to sport and exercise throughout life, Robert was destined to be a part of this industry. He has participated in many team and individual sports and is recently pursuing long distance running. Robert has lived in Liverpool for the last 2 years and began his development in the fitness industry working in Birmingham.

Since his move to Liverpool, Robert has continued to help clients achieve their goals and has further progressed into sports-specific training programmes, nutrition and weight management.

Robert combines scientific principles and new innovative ideas into each session to ensure that clients reach their objectives in an enjoyable way.
